It's been too long since I'd been on my Harley Davidson^® Road King^® and a mate, Dave, mentioned last week that he was riding up Thunderbolts Way and across the Oxley Highway with some friends to stay overnight at Port Macquarie today.  I was dead keen to go but couldn't stay overnight because I had commitments

Today we rode home from Canberra, the predominant theme for the day was rain.  It was cool when we left the first drops of rain falling while we were riding along the side of Lake George.  By the time we passed the Goulburn exit steady rain had set in.

With stops at Marulan, Pheasants Nest and Macas at Thornleigh there were lots

Today was the day that legends were to be made, I woke feeling quite confident that I would probably not be part of any of them.  Fortunately after a cure consisting of five coffees, bacon, eggs, hash browns and a bread roll I felt renewed and ready for anything. 

The events weren't due to start until 1pm so we had the morning

A happy group of us left the BP at Beresfield right on time today for an easy 420k stroll down the freeway to Canberra for the NSW HOG Chapter Challenge which is to start tomorrow.  We had all day to get there so there was no hurry, it was a sit back and relax atmosphere with time to enjoy the scenery and dodge the lunatics in tin boxes.

An early start saw a group of 4 of the local HOG^® Chapter discussing the route we were going to take to cross as many Hawkesbury River Ferries as the inclement looking weather would allow today.  We decided to head towards Wiseman's Ferry first with a quick stop at the General Store at Spencer for coffee on the way.

One of my mates, Dave, is just off his P's and decided to trade in his Honda 400 for a very nice 4 y.o. low k's BMW K1200.  He reckon's he's not yet ready for a Harley Davidson and I understand his logic completely.  He likes to go fast, he's developing his skills and he's looking very forward to taking his new "rocket" down

The other day I was at the local Harley-Davidson^® dealership and was lucky enough to clap eyes on a nice shiny new 2011 Harley-Davidson Road King®.  The colour was described to me as "Root Beer"

I had a few things to do this morning including meeting up with some of the local HOG^® Chapter to discuss an upcoming event.  I drove to the meeting because I ran short of time to grab my Harley Davidson® Road King® from its air conditioned home at my office and when I joined the others I was quite jealous of those

I was talking to a mate a while back and actually said that I'm not the kind of Harley Davidson owner that fired it up to go to the vineyards for lunch, preferring a longer ride.  Circumstances today made me eat my words.  Certainly not the first time, and definitely not the last but I did have good intentions.

While at the local Harley Davidson dealer the other day I saw something on the spare parts counter that caught my eye.  Nope, it wasn't a new 2011 Road King, they haven't arrived yet but it was something that I thought would bring a nice balance to my 2009 Harley... a Willie G (skull) timer cover.

I resisted the urge to snap it up immediately
