Today we rode home from Canberra, the predominant theme for the day was rain. It was cool when we left the first drops of rain falling while we were riding along the side of Lake George. By the time we passed the Goulburn exit steady rain had set in.
With stops at Marulan, Pheasants Nest and Macas at Thornleigh there were lots of opportunities to compare leaky wet weather gear and enjoy the sensation of putting a cold, wet helmet back on. The final stop for the day, where we said our goodbyes, was the twin servos on the F3 near Wyong. At that point I was still relatively dry, the steady speed of the day hadn't put too much pressure on my wet weather gear, although my BMW Pro Winter 2 waterproof motorcycle gloves did get waterlogged (but stayed warm).
We all took time to spare a thought for one of our number who today discovered her water wings, 4 hours with no wet weather gear.
Having said that, it doesn't seem to matter too much if you have a wet trip on the way home. I'm not sure why, I might need to think more deeply on that one when I dry off. I need to dry off because on the last part of the trip I travelled alone and decided that I should put some pressure on the wet weather gear :-).
