Doesn't it make you worrry when....?

Easter has come and gone, everyone was back at work yesterday and my Road King® was still at the dealer's.  Hopefully they were still trying to discover what was going wrong with the throttle control on it.  Finally the call came, and the issue is apparently resolved, by flashing the ECM.

I had to as the question why, given that flashing it didn't work last week, that it did this week and was told that the mechanics had been in touch with H-D® and it was now sorted.  I have to admit I really don't know what to think about that advice, but what can one do.  The Road King has now suffered a non specific loss of throttle power as a result of an electronics hiccup that was not fixed and then fixed by reprogramming a chip.  No thoughts about why it happened and more scarily no possible guarantees that it won't happen again.  Only time will tell I guess.

In any case, it's pissing down today so I won't be picking the bike up, hopefully it'll fine up tomorrow.

Update: It didn't fine up until Saturday (after the service section had shut) I noticed though that there was an invoice for an hour's labour on the Harley for the work, which I assumed would be covered under warranty, if in fact all that was required was troubleshooting and flashing a chip I had no control over and really should not have failed. I was determined not to pay for that and on Tuesday 3 expressed my feelings at the dealership, suggesting that I wasn't going to pick the Harley up until that issue was resolved. Later that afternoon I got a call letting me know that there would be no labour fee and I could pick the Road King up whenever it suited.  It's 4 May now, it's raining outside, hopefully I'll be able to grab it by the weekend.

Hopefully next time I ride it the throttle issue will be resolved, fingers and toes crossed.
