Today my new Road King had its first service and it was time to put on the new Vance and Hines pipes to get rid of the postie-bike sound the factory fitted pipes provide courtesy of anal noise legislation (no pun intended although I guess the legislators probably set the limits based on their whims and farts).
I had also made arrangements to get some chrome passenger footboard brackets and was hoping that they would fit a pair of chrome footboard covers (for the bottom of the passenger boards) that I had originally obtained for the old Road King. Some chrome "holders" for the clutch and brake cables were also on the cards. When I dropped it off I was told 5pm, someone was off sick, mmmm.
Anyhow, during the day I got a call. The pipes went on, the footboard covers needed some "special" screws" that had to be brought in from the US (oh well that was worth a try). But, half the chrome holders etc for the cables didn't fit on the stainless ones I had (given I bought it all there it might have been nice if I'd have been told that before they sold them to me). I had better be more careful next time I buy something for it. The other bit of news was that the bike wouldn't be finished today and I'd need to pick it up tomorrow. Fortunately I don't rely in it to get around.
So all up, not a great experience and I'll see how I go tommorrow.
