LDComfort Pants work a treat!

OK, it's taken me a little while to find the time to review my recently purchased LDComfort Dryline Shorts worn for the first time on my recent trip on my Harley-Davidson® Road King® to Moree but here goes.

After completing the Saddlesore 1600k in October using a pair of ratty cotton jocks under my Draggin Jeans I have to admit the combination of Kevlar, elastic and seams didn't leave my butt feeling like it was made of iron.  (Call me a pussy if you like, water off a ducks back!)  While researching the SS1600k I had seen the links to the LDComfort website so I did some reading and decided to give the undergarments a go to see how comfortable they really were.  I bought them online, they were shipped fast and arrived in good order with cleaning instructions. They seem well made and I guess time and use will tell if that's the case.

Putting them on they feel a bit like thickish compression skins but not quite as tight, if you are an athlete or offroad/motorcross rider you probably know what I mean.  If not they fit quite snuggly (have a look at the photo you'll get the idea).  Pulling on the Draggin Jeans over them felt a bit odd for a while because of the length of the undershorts but that feeling soon went and over all are comfortable to wear around.

Under the Draggin Jeans on the way up to Moree they were a definite improvement. I did notice some slight discomfort, but further into the trip than I normally would (about 250k's).  To be fair I need to point out that my Draggin Jeans are probably a little tighter than they should be right now (my fault). However, I have to say they were very good and the bizarre but functional Kangaroo fly setup came in handy at the pit stops.

LDComfort mention you can wash them out, they'll dry overnight and wear them the next day, I gave that a run and the elastic area at the top and in the lower legs were slightly damp the next morning but not enough to discourage me from wearing them.  They very soon dried off in situ so no probs there.  I could have squeezed them out more or pressed them in a towel when I washed them to help the process but I was in a hurry to get to some beer.

Next Day: It had been raining overnight in Moree so instead of the Draggin Jeans I put my Harley-Davidson Road Warrior riding suit on over the LD's and this is where they really shone.  They didn't catch the liner in the Road Warrior Pants, so no friction when I moved about in the seat.  The riding suit is waterproof and can get hot, but the LDComforts stayed dry and were very, very comfortable.  In the same scenario the ratty jocks would have just been wet with sweat. I rode over 600k's that day with two quick stops without the slightest hint of discomfort and frankly was amazed.

Bad points? Absolutely None. And for what it's worth since Moree each time I've gone on a ride of more than a few hours I wear them in preference to jocks.  I now even occasionally wear them under my riding gear when I hit the bush trails on my KLR650.

I'm really looking forward to testing them out properly again next month on the way back from Phillip Island which will be about a 1200k day.  I'll let you know!  But for now, I can see why the Iron Butt Association promote them for free. They are a great product and for what it's worth I recommend LDComfort Dryline Shorts if longer/endurance rides are your thing.
