Today was a glorious winter day for a ride on my 2009 Harley-Davidson® Road King® and I knew that members of the local HOG® Chapter were meeting at the Harley-Davidson® Dealership for the monthly new members ride. New members rides are an opportunity for people new to HOG to ride shorter distances with other riders experienced in group riding to get a sense of what to do and what it's like (i.e. great fun).
I turned up with not too much time to spare and said a quick g'day to plenty of familiar faces, quite a few who had turned up just for a chat and weren't participating in the ride, which is often the case. About 9 of us then attended the ride briefing and we were soon on our way out to the link road and on a route that took us past Mt Sugarloaf to Kurri Kurri ending at the Heddon Greta Hotel.
On the way I had a chuckle to myself, I had made a newbie mistake and not thought of fuelling up prior to turning up to the ride so I was calculting like a mad thing trying to work out whether I'd need to leave the group to find fuel prior to reaching the destination. Happily I didn't and the ribbing I'd have received was thankfully avoided.
With the social aspects of the ride over in about an hour I jumped back on my Road King opting to ride home by myself and fuel up on the way :-). Not a long ride by any means but it was nice to catch up with the gang.
