The Helmet Decision

Date:
By Wom Battle

I've never seen the sense in slapping copious amounts of sunscreen (or risking the alternative), going out in the breeze at speed and having bugs hit me in the chops.  Putting on a material mask to stop that seems hardly worth it.

I've never poo-pooed those who enjoy the open faced part of the motorcycle experience, but it's just not the way I want to "age".  Balanced against that of course, is that even for me, a full faced rider on a Harley-Davidson has always looked a little "wrong".

While looking at helmets I can't say I wasn't tempted to not look "wrong" but fortunately I'm one of those people who put my own fashion decisions over the vogue dictates and don't really give a tinker's cuss what the papparazzi say.  It's full face for me, but it will be black!

Then I found out that full faced helmets are slowly being replaced by nifty ones that hinge so the whole front lifts.  I asked what the point was and was told that you could just lift the front up to talk to people rather than taking it off mmmmmm.  I'll stick with a full face.
