Some kidless free time with my wife presented the opportunity to shop for the final piece of the bike gear puzzle for her, the helmet.  We tried the big bike store and Harley dealer first, no luck there for size and colour, so we went back to the place I bought my bike.  She tried on Nolan's, BMW's and others without too much luck and

Roy and I decided to head south today with a 9am start.  A quick fuel topup for $7.66 (6.69litres) and I was ready to go.  My son, of course, was ready too.  Roy arrived on timeish and we decided to take the meandering route via the Swansea bends and along the coastline through the central coast, a quick jaunt up to the freeway and

After returning home from Metal Mayhem via Roy's Cafe my son was keen to head out, despite the heat, for an hour or so cruising around.  We were the only ones home at the time, so away we went, with no plan about where we were going.  First west out the link road and I intended heading south.  Too many cars going that way so a snap

The local dealer hosted the Metal Mayhem tour today.  A chance to see and ride the new 2009 Harley Models.  I took my son down and there were people and Harelys everywhere.  Saturday mornings at the Dealer's is the informal meeting place for the local HOG Chapter and they were there in force.  Some of the HOG's partners were

Rego's due next month and the Harley guru told me that the new battery bracket I've been waiting for was in so I took the Road King down to the Guru to organise an inspection and fit the new battery/bracket.  It's getting close to needing a new rear tyre too, passed for now but booked in mid next month to get that done.

Interestingly

The last few weekends have been full of family commitments and finally, despite the forecast 37 degrees, I was determined to go for a ride this morning and hopefully beat the worst of the heat.  My son was keen and I had no plans with respect to a destination.  I was aware that the local HOG chapter had a three day ride organised, that

Quick trip to the servo tonight, $13.43 worth of fuel.  Hopefully the weather will be nice in the morning, if it is I've got a 7amish start planned and a few hundred k's to ride.  Fingers crossed. Note that the recent reductions in fuel prices are even noticeable in a tank the size of the Harley.

For the first time today I also

Things have changed a little with insurance structures on motorcyles since I last had one in the mid 1990's.  My recollection of how things worked in the 90's was that comprehensive insurance was expensive and third party was relatively cheap (but I can confirm that my recollection is sometimes up to shit).  I was pleasantly surprised

Still no call from the local Harley dealer regarding the dreaded glove purchase for my wife.  No surprises there.  I haven't been idle though, a quick email to Morgan and Wacker in Queensland got an email back within 10 minutes confirming they had a pair in stock and a price

I've been to two Harley-Davidson stores now, run by the same company.  One is a nice shiny new store in Sydney and the other, the local one.  We visited the shiny one last week, looked over the bikes and were interested in what accessories and bits and pieces they had there.  We were in the store for about 20 minutes and not one salesperson
