Today I took my time leaving Charters Towers Queensland on my '09 Harley Davidson Road King, only a short ride ahead of me to Townsville where I was to meet up with my wife who was flying up from home for the weekend.

Heading towards the coast there was a little more to see, hills, greenness, a bit more traffic and some corners!

With the Mt Isa HOG Rally over today I was heading towards Townsville intending to stop for the night when I'd had enough.  The group I'd been riding with were dispursing in many directions, well two anyway at least until Cloncurry where there's more options.

I decided to get away reasonably early and have breakfast and stop for

This morning was the Thunder Ride at the Mt Isa H.O.G. Rally and these events are always exciting.  In case you don't know what that is, imagine 400 Harley Davidsons riding past in a single group.... thunderous fun, great to see and better to be in.

We arrived reasonably early at the Rally site and found the others from our Chapter.

An early breakfast today at the Irish Club again, curried, savoury, chilli and spicy mince on toast with eggs, baked beans, hash browns, bacon, a tomato and three coffees after some muesli all a highlight.  There was a ride to the Norther Territory border organised at the Rally but frankly an 8am start for that was not on the cards for me.

I'm not going to go into any real detail about the proceedings at the Rally, you should have been there, but for completeness a description of the day is required.  The Irish Club has an arrangement with mining contract firms to provide accommodation and breakfast to contractors which means that it was open from 5am to 8.30am for breakfast.

A good number of the group were well organised for breakfast cereal today after having the opportunity to shop at Winton yesterday while I was enjoying Longreach.  As usual everyone was up and ready to go very early in the day, but today I wasn't in a rush.  It wasn't far to Mt Isa and I decided to take it easy and spend some time

You have got to love the directions required to travel in the outback, the short 400k trip trip from Blackall to Winton as

  • Head west on Landsborough Hwy toward Short St (107km)
  • Turn left to stay on Landsborough Hwy Go through 2 roundabouts (284 km).

One thing that's always interesting about riding with groups is how the tough days are approached.  It had rained all night at St George and showed no signs of letting up.  Most of us were up before daybreak and went quietly about packing our bikes and having breakfast.

Most of my clothes that had received a thorough soaking in

Last night my Harley Davidson Road King was packed and ready to go for the trip to the Queensland State H.O.G. Raly in Mt Isa kicking off on Tuesday. There were a few of the local H.O.G. Chapter heading up and I left home about 6.30am to head to the meeting place a few k's from Singleton for 8am.

I arrived a little early and first, not sure

I leave for My Isa tomorrow and as of this morning my Harley Davidson Road King was at the service centre of the local dealer for the third time in order to resolve an oil leak.  I was told some gaskets were going to be replaced, however when I arrived to pick it up there had only been more tightening done by the fourth year apprentice who
