Just a quick update on a cost of ownership for my 2009 Harley Davidson Road King.  After 19700+ k's of travel, today I got my front tyre replaced by the Guru.  The old one still had a little meat left on it, but not enough to get me the 5000ks to Mt Isa and back I'm doing in the next few weeks.

I don't recall ever having a

There's been a bit of a mish mash of service intervals for my 09 Harley Davidson Road King. The 1500k service was done on time.  The 8000k service was done at 5,500k's before my trip across the Nullabor. A mini service after that trip was done at about 12,500k's and about 13,300k's the 103 Big Bore Kit was put in followed by an oil change at

Tomorrow I head to Eastern Creek again and the rear tyre was very due for replacement after 16500 ks.  I'd booked it in to the local dealer for tryes today and to get some of the arriving parts fitted.  I chose the dealer because the Guru had told me that he couldn't get a front for the Harley, there were not available, and I thought the

One day to go before the trip to Victoria and my 09 Harley Davidson Road King was at the Harley Guru's getting the Phase II 103 kit w/ Super Tuner tuned up to the max on the dyno. The local dealer had put a standard mapping into it that I'd been riding around on feeling very pleased for 500k's or so, I was interested to see what difference, if any,

With nearly 5,500 k's on the new Road King and 6000+ k's to add to it on the Perth ride taking it well past the normal service schedule of 8,000k's it was time to bite the bullet and take it to the Harley Guru to get it ready for the trip.

On the agenda was putting in the best oil, transmission oil, iridium plugs, best air cleaner

After a light breakfast at the Park Hotel, Bathurst it was time to line the bikes up outside to take a formal group photo, a copy of which was to be provided to our host.  I'm sure a few of the locals raised their brows at the site of one of our number squatting in the bushes on a nearby roundabout.  It wasn't immediately obvious that

An early morning rise in Wee Waa was required, I needed to be home in the early afternoon for a social engagement.  Also planning to leave early was another member of the local HOG Chapter who had also taken his son on the trip.  The young men with us were similar in age, and it turns out after the conversation the previous night,

My first HOG weekend ride with just the local chapter saw us meet at 8am sharp at a designated location.  Dust was on everyone's mind and everywhere else, the wind was lifting but there was no talk of going home.

So with the sky a dusty red hue off we went, 10 bikes, 16 people (I think.. must learn to count) with the first

Awake at 6am and really looking forward to motoring up the Snowy Mountains Highway this morning.  The night was mild and the forecast good enough to not be concerned about black ice.  Thinking about breakfast was too hard, I couldn't face another sausage sanga and I'd decided the night before to perhaps look for a cafe in Tumut for something
