After my first big day riding bikes to get a feel for what was out there I decided to hit the net again and broaden my search. Looking in the sub 15k market I'd seen most of what was there and selecting cruisers didn't really deliver anything that excited me. I'd been spoiled by the 26k Rocket III so I decided to see what was in the 15 - 20k price range.
A whole new world opened up, not only a bunch of cruisers, but a whole lot more of the type of stuff I used to have. Later model ST1300's. brand new Japanese Cruisers (+ onroad costs :-) you have to be careful on the net) and I noticed for the first time that Harley-Davidsons were showing up. New/ish Sportsters (I knew what they were) and 10 - 20 year old other ones Eglides Dynas, it was all gibberish and I didn't know what was what. What sort of naming convention is FLHTC SC or FLHTCUI? Why are some "Classic", some "Custom" some "Wide" and some "Fat". What's the difference between a Fat Boy and a Fat Bob? Is Bob a girl?
I was vaguely interested in the fact that given the budget reset there was some scope to buy a Harley but I was very interested that I could get a brand new Yamaharley, Hondarley or Kawakarley sub 20k. I was wondering though, if the Japanese make their 20kish cruisers the same way they make their cars... For short arses. Time to see, but it'll have to wait for a few days.
The result of the research though... I knew that 15 - 20k was a more likely spend, but I hand't ruled out the Royal Star at 14k.
