The last few weeks have been very wet and/or very windy, not really good weather at all for riding a Harley Davidson even if you don't mind the cold. The forced Road King break has given me the opportunity to think about my blog, correct a few typing errors, and spend some time surfing the net looking at other Harley Davidson and motorcycle websites, some of which have been worthy of linking to on my Harley Links page.
Last night I had a chance to revisit a site I go to from time to time, Road Rider Magazine, to catch up on "The Bear" and Terri's Blog that while not focussed on Harley Davidsons provides good reading for those of us who love to spend hours and hours on the road. I link to the site so I can find it easily when I get a chance and decided on spec to ask them if they'd mind linking to My Harley Davidson Blog so I speared them off an email.
A reply came today from "The Bear" himself who I at that point realised was Peter Thoeming, the author of The Australia Motorcycle Atlas that I wrote about in my blog a while back. This book, with Google Maps are my constant companions now when planning long rides. I've read the book cover to cover a few times and often wonder what it'd be like to be able to say that I've been on all the tarred roads mentioned in it. I can't believe I haven't made the connection with the The Bear and The Book before. Must be old age!
Anyhow, as corny as it seems, I was actually excited at the brief e-brush with fame and knowing that The Bear had now seen my little Harley Davidson site, left a comment and felt it worthy of linking to. Let's hope their web guy knows how!
